Tony is a board director of a listed company and earns £460,000 p.a. In addition, he expects to receive guaranteed quarterly bonuses totalling £50,000 p.a. and an annual bonus related to profits which, last year, was £110,000.

He is now 49 and expects to work until 60, although his company pension scheme's normal retirement age is 65. He has only been with the company for three years, so his benefits within the scheme are currently small but the company contributes to an additional money purchase scheme for his benefit. Tony is married with three children aged between eight and fourteen.
